Sambar and Chital are commonly seen at dawn and dusk, when they venture out of the tree cover to graze in the open grasslands and clearings. These deer species form the primary prey base for Gomarda's predators and are among the most frequently sighted mammals in the sanctuary.
Quiet observation near water sources and grassy clearings in the early morning offers the best chance of spotting them at close range.
